AMD R9 M370X

GCN 1 (Pitcairn) · 2014

1024 Cores 2 GB VRAM Laptop

Released a year after the M290X, the R9 M370X reused the same Pitcairn-derived GCN design but trimmed it down to 1024 cores and 2GB of GDDR5, while keeping the same 256-bit memory bus - a cost-reduced variant rather than a generational advance. It notably appeared in some 2014-era 15-inch MacBook Pro configurations as a discrete graphics option alongside Intel's integrated GPU.

At 55W, it offered a useful bump over integrated graphics for photo and video work, plus light gaming at reduced settings. The smaller 2GB VRAM pool compared to the M290X was its main limitation, particularly at higher resolutions or in texture-heavy games.
