RDNA · 2019
AMD's desktop RX 5500 XT uses the same RDNA-based silicon as the laptop RX 5500M, clocked higher - up to 1845 MHz - and offered with a larger 8GB GDDR6 buffer in this configuration. The 128-bit bus limits bandwidth to 224GB/s, which is fine at 1080p but starts to pinch at higher resolutions.
Launched in 2019 alongside PCIe 4.0 support, it draws 130W and needs a standard desktop power connector, making it a budget-tier add-in card rather than anything laptop-relevant. It is a reasonable pick for 1080p gaming at medium-to-high settings on a budget build, or as an upgrade from older cards that lack PCIe 4.0 and GDDR6.
Comfortable 1080p gaming and everyday creative tasks.
8 GB GDDR6 memory.
Push performance beyond base clock.
