Xe-LP (Tiger Lake) · 2020
Intel's original Iris Xe graphics, introduced with 11th Gen Tiger Lake laptops, pairs 96 execution units with clocks up to 1.35 GHz on the Xe-LP architecture. It was a genuine leap over Intel's previous UHD-branded integrated graphics, bringing noticeably smoother everyday use and enough headroom for light gaming.
It handles web browsing, office work, 4K video and photo editing well, and can run older or less demanding games at reduced settings, though it's been superseded by newer Xe-LPG and Arc-based integrated graphics in more recent Intel chips that offer meaningfully better gaming performance.
Iris Xe predates Intel's XMX matrix hardware entirely, so it only supports XeSS through the DP4a software fallback path - a real, if modest, upscaler with no Frame Generation. It also has no dedicated ray tracing hardware; that arrived only with the later Xe-LPG and Arc-branded integrated graphics, so don't expect any ray-traced lighting effects here even in games that support it.
