Ampere · 2022
Sitting near the top of NVIDIA's Ampere mobile lineup, the RTX 3070 Ti pairs 5888 cores with 8GB of GDDR6 on a 256-bit bus for real 1440p gaming, and solid 1080p performance with ray tracing switched on. It's a laptop GPU built for people who actually want high frame rates and good visual settings, not just playable ones.
Its 150W typical power draw means it only really shows up in larger gaming laptops with the cooling to support it. As with other high-end mobile Ampere chips, NVIDIA allows some wattage variation between laptop models, so two laptops both listing an RTX 3070 Ti can still differ in sustained performance depending on how each one tunes the power limit.
This chip's DLSS support is DLSS 2 - Super Resolution, DLAA, and Ray Reconstruction, but no Frame Generation, which only showed up with Ada Lovelace two generations later. Resizable BAR support is included, letting the CPU talk to the full 8GB of VRAM at once rather than in restrictive windows - a small free performance gain.
Laptop manufacturers configure this GPU's power limit (TGP) per model. The 150W figure above is a typical point within the chip's published TGP range - actual power limits, and real-world performance, can vary significantly between laptops using the same GPU name.
Smooth 1440p gaming and solid creative app performance.
8 GB GDDR6 memory.
Push performance beyond base clock.
Soldered (Mobile)
Real-world specs can differ by laptop model - see the note above.
The NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti is a upper mid-range dedicated GPU with 8GB of GDDR6 memory, suited to mainstream gaming and everyday graphics tasks.
