The unlocked, desktop-replacement-class member of AMD's Zen 3 mobile lineup, the 5980HX keeps the familiar eight-core, sixteen-thread layout but pushes boost clocks to 4.8GHz — the highest of any Cezanne-based mobile chip — while remaining unrestricted for overclocking on capable boards.
Built on a 7nm process at a 45W TDP, it targets enthusiast gaming laptops where every bit of CPU headroom matters alongside a high-end discrete GPU.
